About your upcoming appointment
To begin the consultation, a detailed case history will be taken about the current problem and also any previous medical history. This is important to allow the osteopath to consider other factors that may be playing a role in your presentation, so it is necessary for this to be as accurate and detailed as possible.
To prepare for this, please bring along a list of any medication, details of ongoing health conditions or past surgeries. If you have any difficulty communicating or understanding, please let us know in advance of the appointment so we are able to accommodate your needs as best we can.
The osteopath will then discuss their thoughts with you about the nature of your complaint and will also discuss any examination and testing that they wish to carry out. Depending on the problem you are presenting with, you will be asked to disrobe down to your underwear or shorts or uncover the area in question to allow as thorough examination as possible. It is often helpful for the osteopath to get an overview of both your spine and extremities (arms and legs) to formulate a treatment plan.
To prepare for this, please wear underwear you will be comfortable to receive treatment in, or bring along some shorts you can change into. Also be aware you are always welcome to bring along a friend or relative as a chaperone to any appointment.
Then, the osteopath will discuss the findings with you and work with you to agree on a treatment plan with management advice for what you have presented with. The osteopath will also try to give you an accurate recovery time, though this is sometimes difficult to predict. Towels will be available to cover during treatment and your ongoing consent will be sought to check that you are comfortable with the treatment.
You can arrange a follow-up treatment at the end of your appointment.
If you have any questions during the consultation, do not hesitate to ask.
After the appointment, it is common to feel a little achy for 24-48 hours after the treatment. Ice pack wrapped in a tea towel for 10 minutes over the affected area are helpful for this post-treatment soreness.
Payment and Cancellation Policy
For your first appointment a £10 deposit is payable in advance of the appointment. This will be via a secure link sent via text or email. All other payment can be made by either cash or card at the time of the appointment. The first appointment is £48.00 and follow-up appointments are £38.00.
If you can no longer attend an appointment you have booked, please give at least 24 hours-notice of cancellation. The clinic operates a waiting list, and should you no longer need your appointment, we can offer it to somebody else. If an appointment is cancelled less than 24 hours before the start time of the appointment, you will be charged the appointment fee in full.
Should you have any questions in advance of your appointment, just give us a call and we will be happy to assist you 🙂
I look forward to meeting you soon !
